A POM rod (Polyoxymethylene, also widely known as acetal or Delrin) is a highly rigid, semi-crystalline engineering thermoplastic used primarily for CNC machining and manufacturing precision parts. It is favored for its metal-like strength, excellent dimensional stability, and low-friction wear resistance.

- Why it’s used: POM features low water absorption, superior fatigue resistance, and smooth sliding properties. It is easy to cut, drill, and machine into custom shapes.
- Common uses: It is used extensively to make mechanical gears, bushings, bearings, rollers, and fuel system components.
- Varieties: POM is available as a homopolymer which has slightly higher strength, and a copolymer (POM-C) which offers better dimensional stability and porosity resistance. It is also sold in specialty anti-static (ESD) and food-safe grades.
